Brexit deal currency movements

  • Hardly need a crystal ball to see that in the event of no deal sterling will plummet and vice versa. What it does a week later who knows.

A pure binary event is difficult for the market to price so it won't be priced until the last minute.

Its a mugs game trying to double guess the exchange rate. Too many moving parts.
I'd agree with you for the majority of the time but it seems likely that this one issue has the potential to cause a sharp movement in one direction or the other in the next few days which makes it interesting. I'm not looking to profit from the situation but find the right balance to manage the risk of potential outcomes.
Even if a deal is cobbled together it's far from the end of the process. The ratification process is going to throw up any number of objections. Where we are currently is the outcome many expected.

If Switzerland is any example. then whether deal or no deal the EU/UK negotiations will be ongoing ad infinitum....
