Don't know, but I'd always go before in case a) there are technical issues b) I forget !Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!1

Technically it's due BY the date shown, so if you could gurantee a payment to the card would clear the same day, you could pay on teh day. Most payements I make manually say they will take some time to clear though, so I think you always need to make teh payment before the due date.0

Set up a Direct Debit and it's up to them whether just before or on due date.May be for minimum or in full payment of statement.4

However, when I paid manually (i.e., electronic transfers set up in my bank's online banking facility), I never had any difficulties when I paid on the due date.As @RobM99 says, it's prudent to pay a day or two earlier. Better yet, as @oldagetraveller1 says, a direct debit saves worry. (Of course, if it's American Express, the DD gets collected a week or two before the due date. This might not be ideal. I don't know if there are any other card issuers that do this. There might be, so it's could be worth checking before setting up a DD.)

Payment must reach your account on the due date. Some payment methods take longer than others to process, some creditors payment facilities take longer than others to update. So always pay a day or two early, or by DD, then you should have no issues.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I ask as I’m in that situation where I’ve set up a direct debit, but haven’t had confirmation it’s in place. Today is first payment due date and I haven’t seen anything come out of my account. So I’ve made a manual payment too - but what with it being Sunday, hope it still goes through in time0

It may be that the DD was set up too late for collection of the current amount due. Check your statement. Does it say that the DD will collect, and how much and when? If not, it probably won't. Check with your card issuer if you want certainty.Making a manual payment is the safe option.. but it might result in paying twice.0

I've recently done faster payments to pay off 0% balances on the day the offer runs out and they were paid no problem and no interest charged.0
