Stove top fan

I’ve been looking at the stove top fans that work from the heat of the stove, have any of you guys used one of these and what are your views ? They range from about £15 upwards.

    I've had a Caframo Ecofan for about 5 years now.  I have found it to be very effective.  You do need to make sure that you have sufficient space above the stove top.

    The Caframo fans are very expensive and there are now a number of manufacturers of much cheaper ones these days.

    A stove fan makes a massive difference to distribution of the heat.

    The quality of the stove fans is also key.   You can get cheap fans that dont really move the air and expensive ones that are not much better.  They key is to know which ones to get.    This time last year, I would have told you that the Valiant Vanquish 250 was the best one I had come across.    I have three stoves with fans on and this was by far the best.  However, a year on from that, the fan is failing (not starting automatically - it needs a prod - and not getting up to speed to be effective).  It is an expensive fan but the build quality of the motor is poor.
    The VonHaus XL 4 Blade is not quite as good as the Valiant when new but hasn't had any noticeable drop off and has been running longer.  It is half the price of the Valiant too.   I am now going to buy another fan and may well plump for the VonHaus one again.   Although I am going to monitor this thread with interest.

  • Amazon have some Christmas tree shaped stove top fans in green and red if you want something festive!
    even an ordinary one is well worth the money; the heat it kicks out into the room is noticeable;
    Be happy, it's the greatest wealth :)
