As a bit of a wildcard, have a look at Worsley (M28). It's got a lovely village feel despite being very very convenient for m60/m6, airport 15 mins away but not on the flight path. The Bridgewater Canal is great for walks and you can be in the countryside very quickly, plus Worsley woods on the doorstep. Also easy to go north to the hills or west to the coast.
The RHS is opening its latest garden there, there's some lovely pubs and restaurants too. We moved away for my work, but had a very happy 10 years there.0 -
Also, lots of places there are described as Worsley, if you Google Worsley green and roe green, that's the area I'm talking about!0

I personally would not go for Poynton. The centre of Poynton becomes extremely congested because there are no traffic lights and it is a case of manoevering round mini roundabouts At peak times it can take 20/30 minutes to get through the centre. because of the tailbacks However the area round Anglesey Drive near Poynton pool is very pleasant and there are some nice houses in Higher Poynton.0

There are nice places all the way from Scholar Green on the Staffs border up to Knutsford.Scholar Green is within 30 mins of Manchester, my Daughter lives there and her partner works very close to the airport.
I live in North Staffs but would move to Knutsford in a heartbeat, unfortunately only a lottery win would enable it.I would look for houses within a cone shape going north from S. Green, personally I would look west of the airport and east of the M6.0 -
Sandbach in East Cheshire (CW11) is within 30 minutes from the airport - just - and has a lovely cobbled town square with market hall and restaurants/bars, and a Waitrose (and an Aldi) - its where we are moving later this month (we're moving to a new build 4 bed detached, but there are plenty of house types and ages to suit all budgets and desires there)0

I saw someone said Worsley and agree. Have lived here for more than 10 years, moving from the other side of Manchester and find it has so many benefits, close to the m60, close enough to city centre and Trafford centre. Nice bars and restaurants and loads of places to walk etc0
