  • So my decision letter said I’d been overpaid and instead of getting my payment on the 4th December when it was due they said I would recieve it 31st dec .

Yesterday they put £589 in my account ( I was on enhanced for both and they have changed it to enhanced living standards mob - which I’m asking them to look at again ) because the pahment went in early does that mean they have looked again and kept the award the same ?

    Many thanks

Potentially yes but to know for sure you'll either need to ring them or wait for the decision letter of the MR.
  • I had to get the letter back out as it seems too much they have put in ?
It says on my decision letter dates 30nov ...
“ we will pay £451 into your usual account on 31st December 2020 . This is money we owe you from 3 dec - 30 dec .”

”unfortunately we have paid you too much . You will get a letter shortly to tell you more about this and to let you know if you need to pay any money back “

so surly if it’s stayed the same it would only have been £451 paid in .

I will have to await the letter . I’m confused

    thanks poppy x
  • So I called ... it was playing on my mind .
My MR hasn’t been looked at again yet so that was just a payment they owed me after updating my award ? ... thought that was very quick for them to have looked at it ... I only put it in 4dec

Sometimes the way they word those letters makes no sense at all. Although there's usually an overpayment if you#ve been given a lower award.
  • It is very confusing .
They had lowered my award which is why I didn’t recieve my normal payment on the 3rd dec . I had a decision letter that stated they would pay me the £451 ok the 31st December and I’ve been overpaid ( because my award was lowered like you said poppy ) so I assumed they were just going to keep the dec 3rds payment towards the amount owed and I’d get my new mo they allowance of £451 on the 31st .....

so it just confuses me that I recieved the £589 and I was thinking they must have reviewed my case already and that it’s staying lowered ....

they really don’t help people who are hard of understanding etc . I’m now awaiting 2 dreaded brown envelopes .... 1 being the MR decision but the other 1 more likely before the MR is the amount I owe them ....

How do they usually collect arrears ... will they deduct it from my new monthly amount before I get it ? As I am no good at managing money at all and don’t really need to be adding yet more chores onto my carer to sort out

It's not arrears, it's an overpayment. The overpayment should be paid back now if you didn't receive a payment on 3rd December because of the overpayment. No idea where the £589 came from because that's less than Ehanced for both parts.

**update** ( for anyone following )

4 weeks today since they sent my acknowledgement text for the MR ... no news as yet . Not sure if this new lock down will make things slower or not

There's never any timescales, even in normal times, it can take 2-10 weeks, sometimes longer.
  • So I just logged into my banking app and pip have paid me £171.17

I can only assume my MR was successful as I wouldnt recieve this if it had stayed the same ?
