Premium bonds

Invested £14000 of my hard earned cash  a week ago and apparently they have no evidence of my payment. Spent hours upon hours on the phone trying to chase it but to no avail. Bank states they have the money so I can’t even dispute it. I have an ARN number and authorisation code from the Halifax which NS &I cannot trace. At a loss where to go from here, any suggestions where I can go from here.

That must be very worrying for you, but I suspect that all will be well in the end.  NS&I have been struggling lately and I would think that the money will show up in Premium Bonds eventually - not that this will help you sleep soundly in the meantime!

When you transferred the money from your bank to NS&I, what details did you provide for the payment reference section of the transfer form?

How did you transfer the money from Halifax?
  • I am in the same position but (fortunately) I just sent a test amount initially and I used the personal bond number in the reference section as instructed on the form. I queried it on their FB page and they said it can take 5 working days to be allocated to the account. I don't think that is good enough really.

OP, I hope you get the issue resolved.

Perhaps their service isn't brilliant at the best of times and even slower at certain times of the month, but in the context of buying premium bonds now (at the start of the month), it makes zero difference to the outcome if your money takes several weeks to reach your account, given the draw entry criteria!
  • No, but the point is if you bank transfer 20k you want to know it has arrived....and waiting that length of time is not acceptable to me. The prize draw entry is not the issue.

I have just checked now and my £100 test payment is still not showing nor is the £25 test one to my husband's account. They should be in pending at the very least. Those payments were made 4 days ago. The chat function is not working either.

I would be distraught if it had been the full 50k between us that I had sent.

    What an absolute joke

i was about to invest in some too but will probably leave it a few months until these people get their !!!!!! together

  • I bought a load of PB's back in October and found one thing.
When buying and paying via a BACS payment, this often took up to 5 days before the transaction showed up in my PB account but when doing a debit card payment, the purchase was normally completed with a couple of hours at the most.

I agree with this. Sometimes the payments and bond numbers are shown within minutes. The outgoing payment still shows as pending on the  bank account for a day or two. Much better than the money being transferred out but having to wait days to see the bonds.
