Yep, so when the OP sees the witness statement and evidence, the landowner authority/contract is the first thing to home in on!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Many thanks for your help. From the comments, it appears as if I should now go ahead and file my timely defense statement and then await further information to scrutinise?

Yes, you should send it by e-mail according to the instructions in the defence template thread, NOT in MCOL but then do not sit back and wait. Look again at the NEWBIE sticky and, in particular a section called KNOW WHAT HAPPENS and WHEN because the next item on the agenda is the N180 form (DQ).DeanOAP said:Many thanks for your help. If you type 'filed by email', those three words are your defence. Nothing else you send in by email will be accepted.DeanOAP said:Thank you @Le-Kirk. Is there anything I should do in the defence part of the MCOL - such as state 'filed by email'?
I think my computer is set to colonial spelling and I don't know how to change it! DE-FENCE!
Are you not following the advice given by legally qualified @bargepole in the NEWBIES FAQ sticky, second post?2. You should now Acknowledge Service of the claim, ticking the box that says you will defend in full. Do NOT put anything in the 'Defence and Counterclaim' text box, not even a full stop.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Here are 2 things you do on MCOL
1) the AOS , nothing more , no filling in boxes , no full stops , no filed by email , nothing
2) consider it a read only , it's for checking progress , that emailed documents have been received and logged onto the system
It becomes a source of news , not somewhere to start typing in boxes where you should not , less is more !! Only do what you are told to do , do not go off piste !!
Check your pc is set to United Kingdom keyboard etc , not the default USA , in its control panel or settings2 -
Absolutely NOT. As @Umkomaas states, if you do that it overrides the e-mail defence and the defence box on MCOL becomes your defence and you would have to pay £100 to submit a modified or new defence.DeanOAP said:Thank you @Le-Kirk. If it is Windows 10, just go to settings, time & language and then change the language to English - United Kingdom. If it is any other system, it will be a variation of those instructions.2 -
You want your defence to be 'filed by email' (and only those 3 words) then ignore our clear advice NOT TO TOUCH MCOL.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have found the instructions and am following explicitly word-for-word on how to email my defence. I have not touched MCOL beyond completing the AoS and then checking the AoS date as previously requested.
I will find the 'sticky' and get help understanding what happens next and when.
I'm grateful for the effort you kind people put in to help others. Thank you again for your patience.1 -

That's the easy bit.
There is a link to that 'sticky' in my post of 2 December at 3:36PM.1
