OK , I take it you went for a small one 120GB then I hope it serves you well, and at that price then you won't risk much.

But the 240GB Kingston is only £3.02 more expensive than the 120GB when postage is considered - free postage over £20.
£22.97 versus £25.99.
£3 for double the storage capacity? Sounds good to me.

Really?Terrysdelight said:I was going with the Crucial but delivery is not until 29th December so have opted for the Kingston. The feedback on this product is very good.

Where does it state the 29th of December?
For the sake of £8, I would have gone for the Crucial MX500: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Crucial-MX500-CT250MX500SSD1-NAND-Internal/dp/B0764WCXCV/ref=sr_1_4
Especially if it takes some getting into the case. Five year warranty as opposed to three and much better overall.
Don't just go for the cheapest. There is a reason why it's cheap. I would cancel and re-order.

amazon have multiple links for the crucial products you have to check price and delivery on all links as sometimes they are different.
worth a CCC check just in case prices in the right ball park if not familiar(like the BX are today at £32, were £23.99 during the week

Well, we have progressed. The SSD is installed. I got the Crucial 240GB. It was delivered yesterday and my son has now fitted it for me. He said he will have a look into how he can reinstall Windows 10 tomorrow. In the meantime, I'd rather do it myself if I can. At the moment I am on the Main Bios Screen. Picture below. Can anyone point me to a set of instructions which tells me what to do?

You don't need to be in Bios to install windows 10, what you need to do is create a windows 10 install tool on a USB stick from the Microsoft website, you will need to do this on another computer as you now don't have an operating system.Terrysdelight said:Well, we have progressed. I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world1 -
OK - off to find a USB stick. I had windows 10 originally - it was one of those automatic updates. Do I need to buy windows 10?0

I ended up at the BIOS settings because of this image:

Looking at your CPU it predates Windows 10 so would've been Windows 7 or maybe 8 originally, you may be ok but worst case scenario is you either run an un activated version of Windows 10, pay for a genuine license from Microsoft or get a cheaper key from other sources (up to your conscience)Terrysdelight said:OK - off to find a USB stick. Yes, I had windows 8, but then one of those automatic updates happened and before I knew it, I had windows 10! I've got a USB stick now. I guess I can't copy Windows 10 from my laptop?
