I think its fair to say, the machine I have received, is a definite mis-sold product :-1:
In fairness, I thought the price was too good to be true.  Time to look for an alternative!

  • I and not one part inside looks like it is a Dell part.
To be fair just because parts don't say Dell on them doesn't mean they are not original parts, cooling and case  fans for example often have a third party brand name on them or in some cases no brand name, hard drives are likely to be either Seagate, WD or Toshiba and Memory is likely to be made by someone like Samsung.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

What spec, model,  motherboard and processor that should give an idea of vintage.

I have 12year old personal computers and even older ex work dells that have no sign of corrosion.
    (one is a GX60 ~2002)

That looks like it has been stored(damp) ]a job lot that got the SSD treatment to be sold on.

When you look at the advertising on Amazon - it has pictures of a lovely shiny machine inside and out, and says you will receive a machine that looks like new.  Renewed and tested by Amazon Qualified Suppliers.  I've learnt my lesson :-(

Dell don't' actually make anything, a lot of it is actually rebranded something else.  The hard drives and the memory will hold different brands (often but not always Western Digital mechanical hard drives, possibly Toshiba SSDs and Hynix branded memory) and the board will typically be a rebranded Intel something or other.  The power supply may say Dell but again will usually be some cheap mass produced solution bought in bulk from somewhere.

I agree, from those pictures you've posted it does look rather disgraceful. It looks like that PC has been sitting outside in the elements before it was "renewed", and certainly not in an "as new" condition.

Thank you.   It is so disappointing that Amazon can allow advertising like that.  The add is very mis-leading, it kind of implies that 'Amazon' are involved with this business but I doubt for one minute they are.    It's also disappointing that I have wasted so much time researching the machine and even purchased a decent keyboard and mouse etc to use with the machine.
