easyJet are changing their hand baggage policy, and moving more into line with Ryanair/Wizzair with "Small" and "Large" cabin baggage sizes.  From 10th February:

  • all passengers can take one SMALL cabin bag - maximum size 45 x 36 x 20cm.  Must fit under the seat in front. No weight limit.

  • pax who book extra leg room or upfront seats can also bring one LARGE cabin bag - maximum size 56 x 45 x 25cm. Must fit in overhead locker.  No weight limit.
  • easyJet Plus cardholders and FLEXI fare customers can also bring a LARGE bag (subject to locker space if they are in a standard seat)

Changes take place from 10th February 2021.  People with existing bookings for after that date will be offered "Hands free" free of charge.  You can take a large cabin bag, but it must be dropped at easyJet bag drop and be carried in the aircraft hold.  You will get an email from easyJet regarding this, and note you must keep that email to show at the airport.

    Interesting that they haven’t reduced their large size to 55 x 40 x 20cm.

I have few flights booked up for next year. Does it mean that I take a small bag as the cabin luggage in addition to checking in a bigger bag (56x40x25) for free if we manage to go on the holiday.
    Thanks
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T
  • I booked flights for 2021 earlier this week and I noticed that the hold luggage prices have gone up considerably. In the past they have charged £25 for a 23kg weight it is now £35.49.

When most of the fleet grounded for nine months and little revenue earned, perhaps understandable that when flights start operating again that we will all end up paying more in the future for air travel.

I expect most airlines to either cut back what they offer now (if that is even possible) and introduce or increase supplementary charges on ancillaries.  Flying won’t be the same for a while.
  • I ought to have added it was not unexpected. It was not intended as a criticism just a statement of what has happened.
I’m not in the least bit surprised either they have started charging for cabin bags for basic fares we have been very lucky they didn’t follow Ryanair some time ago.
