Apple customer care

Bought 2 IPhone 11’s October through my NHS discounts email. Didn’t realise that it’s actually cost me over £200 more than NOT using a discount code and going through them than it would from the store I would have originally bought them from. After continuous phone calls in 2 weeks and being told different information from each advisor about being able to get the price difference refunded or to return them (out of the normal 2 week return date) I was told that because the day after I took delivery the new 12’s came out! The advisor I spoke to said I was a victim of the system because of the new release and the difference in prices. Basically I can’t get price difference refunded and they say I can’t return them either.  So it’s cost me more to use NHS discount code to the tune of £223!! Can’t understand it!

I expect the NHS discount will have been offered against the RRP of the phone and will have been an offer that Apple would have had to honour over a long period, whereas the reduction in the price of the iPhone 11's in the store will have been a very short term response to the announcement of the iPhone 12s.

Even if you could get a refund on the phones bought with the NHS discount, I very much doubt you would have received the money back in time to be able to buy iPhone 11's in store as they would have sold quickly. If you wanted to buy at the lower store price you could have bought them as soon as you knew that you could get a refund on the phones you bought through the NHS scheme.

However, if you were misled by the Apple staff who should have told you that you could return your NHS discount phones, you seem to have the basis for a complaint to Apple. Ask them for a token refund of £100.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • I would have bought from the other store as they were in stock the second time I rang Apple for the cheaper price, but was led to believe that a refund was imminent and was waiting on a managers approval. Upon waiting for this elusive contact, I was rechecking this other store, and you’re right, they are now out of stock!! But Apple still have stock that can be delivered in 2 days! I have looked again at their website after my last contact with them today and can get it cheaper going solely through them, and cheaper going through the NHS discount site. I just can’t get my head around how they can have differing information on both sites from October! And it’s now a principle thing rather than the £223 more I have paid! I’m seeing this through till the bitter end and have lodged a complaint through Resolver, with screenshots of pricing I paid to what their website & NHS Apple discount are showing today and all have massive discrepancies. It’s unreal. When I tell people they don’t believe me, it sounds like a made up story, but it’s true! I can’t quite fathom it out! Let’s see if I get a reply from Apple through Resoler! 🤞🤞
