What is the expected time before receiving building survey report?

Whats peoples experience of the normal time to wait for the report?

It will be 2 weeks on Tuesday since the survey was carried out. No contact since and even an enquiring email hasn't been replied to.

I expected around a week and a half but seems to be dragging on now.

  • My surveyor works alone and emailed me the next day to let me know nothing major needed doing, and he'd be typing up the report later that week.  It does seem a long time, can you telephone?  Your seller will be wondering if you are going to proceed?

  • Seems to be anything between a week and three weeks based on our experiences and the experience of those who have bought from us in terms of what their solicitors said.

No issue with that, solicitor only waiting for one thing seemingly and we have our mortgage offer. Told the EA we are just waiting for the survey report and that they were taking a long time.

Pick up the phone. Presumably you used a firm rather than an individual.

Longest one took for me was 3 weeks with an awful lot of nagging and chasing from me and my lender. That wasn't during covid times so I should imagine there's a chance it would've been even longer today.

  • It depends by the firm and the contract. In my case, 3 weeks from booking for the survey, call from the surveyor the date of day of the survey describing more or less the situation and official report back the day after.
I paid £100 more for the express fee. Otherwise lead time was 5 working days.
