using keyboard shortcuts in Greek

This is a query about which Greek keyboard keys are used to do OS/program shortcuts rather than entering Greek letters.

As an example in Windows CTL+s is used as a shortcut to Save in English or sometimes alt+ a key. Obviously the defined keys depend upon both the OS in use and the program.

Does anybody on here know what typically is used in Greek or if there is info on descriptive resources on the web? I am struggling to help somebody (a native Greek speaker but not very IT literate - yes worse than me!) translate a language pack so that entry and selection is easy and familiar in that language.

Every program is different. Tell them to look at the save menu and it tells them the shortcut.

Or if your using the same program and talking them through it then use an onscreen keyboard

in greek.

Do tell me if I misunderstand what you write but what is trying to be done is develop a language pack modification for a program. It is not just a case of using a Greek keyboard with an existing program that already has Greek language.

Developing the language pack requires that shortcut keys are defined. The question is what to pick!

I used "Save" as an example as it is quite common i.e. typical on many a program in the English language (though as you say not universal!) That can be iterally translated in Greek as αποθηκεύσετε or διατήρηση (I think, they may not be strictly accurate as we use save as command rather than just a verb). So (assuming those were the words) which one to pick. If διατήρηση is used more often then that could be the one to pick and hence the shortcut would be CTL+δ.

I am hoping to find an IT developer/coder who is familiar with Greek usage - plenty of Greeks in the UK though I guess it may be a long shot on MSE but know of no other techie forum to ask on! Perhaps that is pertinent to the question!

Keyboard shortcuts saved my bacon when I was setting-up machines (supplied by client) for a job once - they neglected to tell me everything was being done in Finnish. Thankfully they didn’t change much between languages!
