Where's the coercion? It's just a negotiation.camden_kid said:
It's dodgy because the OP is being coerced into doing something they don't want to do.hazyjo said:
It's not 'dodgy' at all. It's what most solicitors are advising in this current climate.camden_kid said:Dodgy. Push back against that.
Can you compromise with a week?
I wouldn't usually advocate same day exchange/completion, but even I would choose that at the mo.4 -

I'm in a rental and want to have the cottage and carpets cleaned by a local trustworthy professional. If I'm asked to exchange/complete on the same day I suppose this would still be possible, I might have to pay the landlord for another week.£216 saved 24 October 20140

How are they being 'coerced'? They've been asked to agree to same day exchange and completion: they can agree, decline, or compromise with a shorter gap between. That's negotiation, not coercion.camden_kid said:

Are you lot being deliberately obtuse? The buyer is putting pressure on the OP.1 -
And if the OP puts pressure on the buyer to accept a gap between exchange and completion, that wouldn't be "coercion"?camden_kid said:

OP - Don't let anyone make you do something you don't want. Life's too short for this - "just don't want to add on that extra pressure". Good luck and all the best1 -
My cash buyer asked to exchange/complete on the same day (through my EA) with 6 days notice. I said I'd confirm in an hour or so. I arranged removals/ storage, called the EA back, confirmed it was all okay and it went smoothly without any issues. If I hadn't been able to arrange removals/storage then I would have negotiated with the buyer to what suited both of us but luckily all the other arrangements came through so I was able to agree to their request. If the OP isn't comfortable with agreeing then come to another arrangement which suits them.2
