I have been made redundant before. I went out and got my new (very secure) job.

Do you agree that lower interest rates mean businesses can invest more in creating new jobs?

Only the base rate has been cut, not the rate that the BOE lends to banks for mortgages, so mortgage rate will stay the same.

Not necessarily true my tracker is Band of England Base rate tracker so will go down.

Don't think that £16 on every 100,000 worth of mortgage debt will be much comfort the peeps coming off thier fixed rate in Jan/Feb.

Especially when food and transport are likely to go up by more than that £16 per month.

Ya takes it off, and put it back on somewhere else.

    A bit like my diet.

Agreed. I wasn't endorsing the decision. I 'voted' that BofE Hold. :)

  • Great. Inflation soars. My company gives me a pay rise. My mortgage overpayments have even more effect. Long term, my mortgage is a smaller percentage of my income.

Thank you for telling me what I can post.

Umm, doesn't your cost of living soar also, negating your increased wage? Thats if your lucky enough to get one...

Utility bills have rocketed, petrol prices are through the roof, companies are struggling to stay afloat, the weekly bill at the supermarket looks more like a telephone number.... but hey - it's all cool coz my employer is gonna pay me an extra 30p an hour!

Yes, according to BBC News website this lunch time but not sure if this affects the deals on offer or when this feeds through?

No, my increased wage negates the cost of living soaring.

Meanwhile the mortgage stays the same, or rather it drops as interest rates drop. Not that it makes a difference to daily life as any drop is going towards overpayments. It just means we are mortgage free a few years earlier.

companies are struggling to stay afloat
Are you saying companies would benefit from a rise in interest rates?

Anyone with a degree of intelligence knows this is not true.
