Hi.  Recently found out that I have been paying company Complete Savings £15 a month since 2018 after not knowingly registered.   They refused a refund but sent me another letter explaining benefits.  I had no benefits from the, no vouchers or anything else.  Can anyone help.  Thank you.

  • I woke up to my £15 per month "membership" of Complete Savings in April 2021, having allegedly become a "member" of this organisation as a consequence of buying coach tickets from National Express with my debit card back in September 2016. I couldn't believe I hadn't noticed all these monthly debits from my account for such a long time, and felt like a complete idiot. I did eventually get the whole sum refunded, having cancelled my "membership" - so my advice is to cancel your membership and and not give up demanding your money back. If you're a "member" paying a monthly "membership fee" how come you don't have a membership card with the terms and conditions clearly stated? It's a clever scam, but you should get a refund if you persist. The main issue for me is how the monthly expenditures in favour of Complete Savings look like regular shopping purchases when you see them on your bank statement, which is how I was fooled. In fact what's happening is a Continuous Payment Authority (CPA), a form of Direct Debit, with the £15 monthly deduction taken using the long number on the front of your debit or credit card. I learned that Complete Savings did not have a record of my bank details, only the long number on my debit card. By contrast a Direct Debit is authorised by the account holder and labelled on your bank statement as such. I think the banks should label CPAs on our bank statements and am wondering how to campaign to get this done. Good luck with getting your refunds.
