  • What are peoples thoughts on the newly approved Barclaycard... think it will follow suit?
    Almost certainly yes IMO.

I opened an account with Barclays on Sunday... received my card today. I have not used the account at all yet, I was waiting for payday tomorrow to move all funds over.

I went to log into the app, and it told me to call up when I did they said a note to close my account was on there... any idea why? I have also just applied for a Barclaycard and been approved, after sending proof of income, is this likely to be closed too?

    I'll answer a few Q's I think I might get..

Never been bankrupt or had a CCJ..
Few defaults.. (3) from late last year
    No outstanding debts...

  • Thanks for the input all... Spoke to Barclays, nothing fraud-related, they said it is due to a dormant account from years ago...
    Barclaycard unaffected.

Maybe you owed some money on that account?

At age 13 no debt would be permitted though & if it was it would definitely be unenforcable due to being under 18.

Although unenforceable, it may explain a bank being wary of dealing with the individual again.
  • The account was never used, it was just dormant. They said it costs money to banks to have these accounts open and it may be a reason to refuse a new application.
