Barclays closed my account?

I opened an account with Barclays on Sunday... received my card today. I have not used the account at all yet, I was waiting for payday tomorrow to move all funds over.

I went to log into the app, and it told me to call up when I did they said a note to close my account was on there... any idea why? I have also just applied for a Barclaycard and been approved, after sending proof of income, is this likely to be closed too?

I'll answer a few Q's I think I might get..

Never been bankrupt or had a CCJ..
Few defaults.. (3) from late last year
No outstanding debts...

Just so unsure as to why.. I have no CIFA's... my credit history has never been that poor that I have had to go for a basic account or anything like that, always able to get a normal current account, I work full time and on an average salary so no criteria should be affecting it.

Nobody from Barclays will tell me why!

From what you say, yes they have.

It could be any reason.

Admin error, CIFAS marker, your poor credit history, change of criteria and so on.

I banked with them years ago, when I was about 13 years old, haven't used it since. (I am 21 now for reference)

Something appears to have spooked them, but it could be for any reason. Did you put any deliberately incorrect information whilst you applied for these accounts? Are you using your correct address? 

Have you had accounts with them before?

It's just one of those things. They won't tell you why they don't want you as a customer, and we can only guess because none of us know what Barclays' criteria are. May be they didn't like your defaults. May be something else.

Just spoke with them, set up a complaint as she said that's the only reason they can look into it and let me know.. will be told in 5 days.

What are peoples thoughts on the newly approved Barclaycard... think it will follow suit?
