Hi Freebear, thank you for your response. I really don't know what I am looking at beyond the fuses and the different coloured wires but it appears that you and Welchyboy51 are basically saying they are doing something dodgy? Does this mean they are bypassing the means of measuring how much electricity is being used? To my knowledge, the meter hasn't been read by anyone from any electricity supplier in years.0

I should also say that this LL charges market rates so it isn't even a case of them being dodgy but saying 'I'll give you cheap rent' wink wink!0

Is it dangerous? Could we get a fire from it?0

To my knowledge, the meter hasn't been read by anyone from any electricity supplier in years. It certainly looks that way... If you don't know who the electricity supplier is, you could give UK Power Networks a call and ask them to do a safety inspection. They should be able to tell who the supplier is from the number on the meter. BUT... They may well take one look at the installation and disconnect it immediately. On closer look at the photos, it is clearly obvious that the meter has been tampered with. There is normally a wire and seal on the screw in the middle of the white cover of the meter. There should also be one on the main fuse (rectangular black box at the bottom with a red warning label on it). UK Power Networks is going to take a very dim view of this, as will the electricity supplier.I would stick my neck out and say this landlord is not just dodgy, but criminal too.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –
