Barclays took my money

Please can any help me as I seem to be losing the will to live. My ex husband had transferred £275 in a joint account we both have with Barclays. This money was transferred on 16th November but on Friday 20th November. Barclays had transferred the full amount into their reconcile account in Coventry which is now at zero balance. I am currently self isolating due to my children being tested positive on Covid-19. I fully understand that I can go into a branch with two forms of ID but NHS track and trace have said by law I must not leave the house. (Not that Barclays is willing to pay the £1000 fine) Since 20th November I have no way of getting any food. Barclays has emptied my bank account. I rang to log a complaint on Saturday 21st and was told it would be fast track. Monday 21st I logged to Barclays online chat and I was told ‘do no worry’ I will hear within 24-48 hrs. I rang up complaints team that same hour, I got told i would get a phone call by 4pm. It is now day 5 of no food. I’ve called complaints team, I got told that he is 99% that I won’t get my money back. If I was as desperate as I said I was then I should go to food banks and community, or and to the news media. He finished off saying ‘Good Luck’. I am mentally and physically exhausted. I don’t know what else to do. I’ve message Barclays on fb, I’ve been in touch with Bradford news T&A. I am a single working mother with four young children age 12, 11, 9 and 7. I have had no income for last two weeks as I had to close my business due to self isolating. Please please can anyone guide me on what to do. I have checked my credit file and it’s fine, just in case Barclays uses that excuse for their ‘routine check’

Yes, call your local Citizens Advice for advice about benefits. You should be claiming UC, and can have an advance on the UC payment. UC payments normally take about six weeks to come through, but you can have an advance once they have verified your identity. If you are already receiving income support or tax credits, you need benefits advice from Citizens Advice before applying for UC.
Your local authority will be administering a Test and Trace Support payment of £500 that you should be eligible for. Check on their website how you apply for this.
I would see if your ex-husband or your/his parents will pay for an internet shop to be delivered to your home. If they can't/won't do this, you will also need to speak to Citizens Advice about a foodbank referral. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.3 -
Regarding the problem with the payment your ex-husband has made, either he or you should receive the money eventually. Your story above is not coherent, but I'm not surprised at this as you are struggling. I would let ex-husband take the lead on getting the money back. The comments I post are my personal opinion. Monday wasn't 21st but 23rd.
Re no food well can your ex not help out or other family, neighbours.1 -
Without sounding rude, what do you mean by not coherent? I have already applied for the £500 support. I still haven’t hear anything back. I’ve never applied for benefits in my life as I’ve always worked. I’m just don’t know what to do.0

Can you use your child benefit payments to buy food until you have sorted your UC / £500 isolation payment?
As to Barclays: something on your account, or about the source of the money, has spooked them. Unfortunately, once you are being investigated, things can take a considerable time to get resolved, and neither yourself not any strangers on the internet can do anything to speed it up. You should be getting yourself a second current account with a different bank, and perhaps have your child benefit and other benefit payments paid into that account.1 -

Just rang Bradford council for the test and trace support payment. They have a back log of submissions so I’ve been asked to ring back this time next week. 😩😭0
