What do YOU eat when OH is away?

Hello all
My OH has just left this morning on a 10-day trip, so for the next week or so I can just please myself when it comes to cooking meals. What are your favourites in this situation?
Note I am not looking for advice on how to cook a meal for one, I can do that no problem. I am just looking for some inspiration so I can meal-plan properly, and do not end up living on cheese sandwiches in-a-hurry as often happens. I will also try to use as much as I can from the store cupboard and freezer.
Thanks in advance for your ideas!

Hello, there! My DH goes away for weeks on end several times a year, so I know how you feel.
I usually take the opportunity to use up the single portion items from the freezer.
I also eat poached or scrambled egg on toast - no-one else in my family likes that, despite our keeping hens, so that's a big treat :rotfl:
And on most of his trips I'll invite my girl friends round - we'll have lasagne or some other easy to serve bake, a few bottles of wine, and chocolate desert.

When my partner is at work I tend to use up the 'left overs' from the freezer, when I cook I make extras then pot them up for me.
I love a quick and easy curry for when he's working and I have nothing made for me, any veg left over, meat etc, some prawns if I have them in mmmm, fried without oil, throw in the sauce and cook some rice for with it.
He's much more of a meat person so I tend to have what I like, pasta with some cheese on, cheese and potato bake (sometimes put baked beans, even a sausage or 2 sliced under the potato before baked) those are my comfort foods. Veg meals, this can be veg stired into cooked rice, grilled veg, chopped up veg made into a burger (binded with an egg) sometimes coat in breadcrumbs then fry make a great 'in a bun' snack. One day I might be more organised...........

I have to say I go for the 'on toast' option a bit too much, although in my defence I like things on toast
Also like penelope says using up freezer meals. And pasta for comfort food.
But I also would sometimes eat fish since DH hates the smell of it cooking - it's my treat when he's away0 -
I dont bother
i just pick at things like cherry toms, carrot sticks, ham, grapes etc from the fridge, maybe some rice cakes with philly.
I think i'll start freezing things in individual portions for me for when OH's away, at the moment i just freeze in either family sized portions or little ones for DD.
oooh and fish, maybe a tuna steak? OH isn't keen but i love it so i might do that one day for lil old me

Great to get your responses! Cheese and potato bake is on, and I do like the idea of making burgers with chopped up veg - i can stick all sorts of other odds and ends from the fridge in like bits of ham, cheese etc. I do have individual portions of leftovers in the freezer but will not touch them, as they are for OH when I am away - I have a long-ish biz trip coming up in January, and I don't like him to eat processed rubbish.
The burgers lil_me, could they be baked in the oven instead of fried to make them a bit lighter? Or does that not work."Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
If you cook some mince, you could then use for different meals:
Shepherds Pie
Chilli
Spagbol
Lasagna
Pie

Rather than mess about trying to halve recipes I usually cook whatever it is and freeze leftover portions. That's the theory anyway. I'm currently without any home-cooked ready meals
Normally I have something like that I can call on though. I like stir fry he doesn't soo that's always another option if I've got the ingredients in.:wave:0 -
If only he would go away! :rotfl:
Only joking! If he did, I would either eat pasta every day of the week, or buy 95p pizzas from Tescos and have one every day. I would be so cheap to feed.
Or I'd have a fried egg sarnie, yum.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

Can you really trust your OH to eat what you prepare and leave in the freezer? Mine is even incapable of doing that much. I prepare a lot and put in freezer, but I always have to get it out, thaw it and cook it.
He would just get takeaway every day if I wasn't there to cook for him. Gosh, just realised how bad that sounds. Good job I am there for him, isn't it? He has takeaway every Thursday when I go to college.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010

If I'm naughty and its just one night I'd get a pizza from supermarket or a bag of chips. If I'm not, or don't want to go out I have pasta - I never feel its a good enough 'meaty' meal for him on a regular basis though I could live on it. We have it once a week when he's here though.
