Travelling with Jet2holidays and they are not being particularly helpful about where I can get a PCR test done near Leeds on Xmas Day or Boxing Day to meet the new Canaries travel requirements of being able to present a negative test result/certificate, time and date stamped within 72 hours of arrival at accommodation.
Taking the test on Christmas Eve is too risky in case of any travel delays.
Because of the proximity of the holiday date, standard terms apply and I can't cancel or amend.
Would be interested to get views from anyone in the same boat as us and where, if anywhere, you have secured a test slot

Boots are rolling out testing in their stores.

I can image the issues and concerns you are having given the testing over the Christmas festivity period.

Hopefully another MSE with knowledge of your region might be able to give you  ideas on who are doing tests in your area.  From there contact each to see what opening times and protocols they are running to over the holiday period.

Not perhaps ideal but I was under the impression that you can be tested upon arrival but that you have to isolate in Government approved accommodation whilst awaiting the result.  Perhaps look on the Spanish/Canary Island official sites to see how that works.  Possible back up plan?
  • Try The Whitehall Clinic in Leeds.  (Sorry won't allow me to post the link.)
Looks as if they are open all over the Christmas period.

Are you prepared to pay for them for doing your leg work?

You say Jet2 aren't bring particularly helpful about where you can get a test done, is it a case they weren't willing to give the information or they just didn't know where it could be done ?

I'm going with the latter, maybe they just don't have the information you need.

TBH it is of no concern of Jet2. There is no reason for them to know what testing is available. For example, if you live in Swindon then you'd get tested there before travelling to the airport. You don't expect Jet2 to be aware of testing capability in that area.

If it is a country requirement (rather than an airline requirement) I'd expect any airline to view it in the same way as visas i.e. it is the traveller's responsibility to ensure they have the correct stuff to allow entry to the country they are travelling to.
I think it's too much to expect an airline to be able to recommend a covid test clinic for any part of the country.

I'm fairly sure that GOV.UK used to have a link to test clinic locations based on your postcode but it seems to have disappeared, maybe since the latest England lockdown.
Maybe they will reinstate it after 2/12.

Does anybody know what the legal position is if you follow all the advice to get a test as recommended by your travel company send it off in time, but for whatever reason the test result for one of the passengers is not returned in time for the flight. It seems like a potential black hole of everyone will blame everyone else - but without one you cannot land abroad. But if everyone feels the same the travel company won't exist as everyone is simply going to cancel Christmas with 21 days to go as most of the travel companies are offering free adjustments.

If you cannot produce evidence of the test I would expect the airline to deny boarding in the UK in much the same way they do where your passport or visa is not valid. The obligation to have the test results ready for arrival is entirely the responsibility of the passenger and unless the laboratory has some form of time guarantee, which I very much doubt, the loss is the passenger's alone
