We had a ghost cat in our old house too, but no one else saw it other than me and my cousin. We later found out that a few years after we left the new owners had the house exorcised!

I'm fairly sure my mother was hanging around for a while too. I had loads of strange things happen for about a year after she died which could only have been her. Things like, on the first anniversary of her death the clock in the kitchen (which she bought me) started running backwards. I thought there was something wrong with the clock, but I left it as it was, thinking I'll get it fixed at some point, the next morning I woke up and the clock was running perfectly, and was showing the exact right time.

Another one was a bit later on, I'd just broken up with my ex and was pretty upset about the whole thing. Now, mum travelled a lot in her life, and wherever she went she bought a little silver charm which related to that place. So, she had a little charm passport which she always meant to put on a bracelet but never did. I have this little box of charms and it's my most treasured thing.

Now, right after ex and I broke up, I went away for a few days alone on a holiday we'd booked together. Before I went I hid mum's jewellery under the floorboard in the airing cupboard, just in case of a break in and this little box of charms was in there too, wrapped in a towel under the floor.

So, I came back from the trip and one evening I was feeling really low, I was having a good old cry and was talking to mum, wishing she were here and stuff. I was asking if I'd ever meet someone who could cope with my job and who I'd be able to maintain a relationship with.

I went upstairs to bed and right in the middle of my bed was a little silver charm. I picked it up and thought crap, has someone found mums box? But, I went to the airing cupboard and the box was wrapped the same as I'd left it. This little charm was from Montreal. I didn't see the significance of that until a few months later when Fran and I were getting serious and he was moving in. One night I sat bolt upright in bed and realised what the message was. Fran, my now husband, is from Montreal :)

  • The replacement beer brewing tin arrived today after the emails and call last week to Brew It Yourself. I might pour away what is in the brewing barrel in the next few days and start off a new batch of beer from the base mix of the damaged tin.

I sometimes hear 'voices' briefly in the house (no, not in my head!!!) almost like.......you know in a film when they going into an apartment and the TV or radio is on really quietly in a room they burst into.......kind of that....but I live in a detached house so it can't be neighbours etc

Morning all. Sar I mentioned the other day about keeping kiddies and kitties out of your Xmas tree and I now see that you can't lol ! Could it have been Lewis who turned kitchen tap on ? Ds is here- still in bed of course-and he came without his demo grrr. He came straight after work and forgot to pick it up on his way out in the morning. He listened to your riff and liked it. Will try and get details off him as promised.

Morning all! It's wet and windy here too! I'm off into town later to look for some presents, then off to London to watch Of Montreal (a band).

    Morning all

Adding to the spirit debate: 6 years ago my maternal grandmother and a paternal cousin died within 3 weeks of each other. four weeks later I was on holiday in spain and every night of that holiday I would dream about them; waking myself (and Wayne) up saying "I can't hear you." Last night of the holiday, we both woke up when someone shouted "please go see a doctor NOW". Two weeks later, I realised that aunt flo's last visit had been rather brief so did a test - yup I was pregnant two days later I started to spot. At this point I remembered the message.

I saw one of the senior lecturers I work with (obstetrician) and mentioned the positive test and bleeding to him. He arranged for a blood test and scan - this shwoed it was a 7 week big already-bleeding ectopic and I needed emergency surgery. I went home to collect my overnight bag and go back to hospital and found in the bag two white feathers.

Since then, I've been inundated with blooming white feathers - my granmother left me a brooch and necklace - I've found feathers in those jewellery boxes. My cousin had sent various letters to me during her lifetime and when I've gone to the box with the letters I've found more white feathers in envelopes (reading those letters again they could have been written recently rather than 15+ years ago). I stayed in my paternal grandparents' house this july and discovered white feathers in my purse the next morning (definitely no feather there the night before - only £3.25!)

Wow cat, they were certainly looking after you. I never used to believe a word of this stuff, but I have little doubt that something somewhere is looking out for us.
