It's taken me a few reads but I think by saying they paid, the OP is saying they paid by way of the deposit reduction. It's just a single £500 transaction. Which they seem to be simultaneously agreeing with and disputing. So perhaps they accepted the £500 cleaning fee (which is extortionate) but want to see if they can chance disputing it, but only if there's no risk of the cost rising above £500.greatcrested said:Yes, OP is no longer making sense.* the landlord is claiming £500 for cleaning* you are happy to pay £500* you have received the remainder of your deposit already - £600* so what is the dispute? Just move on* However you also say you have already paid £500. Not clear how though. If you paid, why is LL also deducting £500 from your deposit making a total of £1000 for cleaning!
I mean unless the flat was a total bomb site or they left a hoarder's worth of rubbish behind, there's next to no chance the DPS will agree with the £500 fee, especially since no invoice has been provided to the OP.Indeed.Now £500 for a poorly maintained/cleaned 5 bedroom house might be reasonable, but a one bedoom flat that the OP cleaned before leaving.....!!!!0 -
Now is what is the consequence of dispute via TDS? (That is my question.)0

They will fine you more if you lost the dispute.0

It is clearly that you will charge more.0 -
That's one scenario indicating that they MIGHT (not will) charge more. It is definitely not clear because you posted a response from TDS saying the opposite. The OP already said they cleaned the apartment and that the agency didn't provide a cleaning receipt when requested. I'm surprised the OP hasn't already kicked off. £500 is extortionate and far beyond what could be expected for a 1 bed flat. If the flat was in an appalling state, and the OP loses, the likely scenario is that the landlord keeps the £500 (the amount in dispute) unless they manage to produce evidence that even more costs were incurred. They haven't even produced evidence for the £500.alandaniel132 said:

This really is rubbish. And what's more the chance of the OP losing is about 1 in a 100.alandaniel132 said:They will fine you more if you lost the dispute.

OP, you've had several answers, and asking the same thing repeatedly won't get you the answer you want. The bottom line is, if the LL wants to deduct £500 for whatever, you agree to pay £500, then why is there a dispute? You both just tell the deposit scheme what is happening, transfer back the balance of the deposit and move along.
If you insist on manufacturing this into a dispute, then the deposit scheme will *probably* not award more, but they could. Until we invent crystal balls, no one here can give you a more firm answer.7 -
Yes OP, three threads that I've seen basically asking if you will be punished for disputing the LL's claims. Your posts are a little confusing. I think you will have to wait and see. You can keep asking the same question but you won't get the reassurance you seem to need. Time will do that if you decide to go to dispute the amounts for cleaning, damage etc. It all sounds a bit odd as I have no idea what was taken off you, how the LL returned your deposit and then decided to claim more off you, if that's what has actually happened. I'm not asking, just saying your posts are confusing. There's something not quite right about your posts.2

OPs posts are confusing but by the ops use of English perhaps not their 1st language? The world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon1
