  • So either contact direct oil, give them the details and ask, or use a different supplier!
No one here can tell you which supplier to use.....!
  • sujsuj I am worried for you, your plastic tube looks as though it's empty.  In Northumberland our last orders had to be in on Monday, they don't deliver until January now.  Could you ask the neighbour's who they use?

My previous house was built behind another with a 150 foot narrow driveway up to tank. Normal tanker delivered every year and ran hose from the main road (thru side of neighbours garden - with permission of course) up to tank with no issues.
As someone else said, they do have really long hoses and well used to getting to awkward places.  I'd mention pls not to drive on tarmac on delivery instructions and just make sure you're at home when they deliver so that you can ensure they don't.

People using oil for heating are very often off-the-beaten-track, by definition... simply because people in urban environments don't use oil, because they have access to mains gas.

So, yes, oil suppliers are used to taking tankers down smaller lanes, down unadopted roads, and along semi-surfaced tracks.
But remember - more wheels means lower ground pressure, because the weight is being split between more contact points.

Also - look at how many wheels on each axle...

A quick google for some registrations of heating oil tankers...
    B10CFL, 26t Scania 3-axle, 8 wheels (rearmost is a steer axle, so singles) = 3.25t/wheel

    AU59CFD - 18t DAF 2-axle, 6 wheels = 3t/wheel

So the extra load per contact point is minimal - 3.25t vs 3t - and that's at fully-laden. A bigger tanker means more deliveries per load, means less likely to be near fully laden when it visits you, so the average point load may well be lower.

Also - what size is your bin wagon...? Don't underestimate them! Or if you need a fire engine... Or if you get a delivery of building materials...

Is that with a club? I'm Northumberland, Bellingham area, and can still get deliveries from all the main players if I needed to. They don't usually stop delivering in December. Our local club is never the cheapest anyway.
  • Sorry yes I am still in the oil club, Warkworth, now I'm ordering so rarely I forgot.  Here's the link to Affinity who could put you in touch with a local club if you were interested - I have saved £££'s with mine.  Affinity Fuel | AF Affinity (af-affinity.co.uk)

I made order via BoilerJuice yesterday, got  £10 discount coupon as well. Direct Oil was lowest  earlier  but due to fact that no Tanker selection option. I used boiler Juice.
Can anyone confirm Delivery on or before X date means it could happen earlier than the date specified..? Based on  your experienced it ever happened earlier than the date mentioned..? Thanks.
  • Yes, can be earlier. That's the guaranteed latest date, but they will try to combine your delivery with others locally so it could be any date. They will advise you in advance.

Ok. Thanks. I think I am in a tricky situation now!!!
Other day  'youth_leader' said he is concerned about my  Oil Tank level. I didn't realise it until today afternoon boiler stopped working. Waited till now to see if smoke is back. No luck.   So I think I run out already. Level is still showing Foot + Oil.

Now only option for me is to call Boiler Juice to make my delivery as Emergency one. When I ordered it I didn't realise it need to be an emergency one. Looks like I am learning Heating Oil lessons in a painful way.  Now I might have to get some one to clean filter as well if  its didn't start a after refilling. Anyone in this forum experienced this..?? (I know Most likely NO..)
