When you have to drive over a mountain and through swamps to get to your workplace and there aren't any roads you just have to buy this sort of vehicle.
    It's an RRS...
The target market is less off-road utility and global explorer, more the (private) school run and self-employed recreational pharmaceutical sales representatives.

Certainly not for this type of vehicle and many would say not for land rovers in general. A former colleague had worked in Zambia where the saying was 'if you want to go into the jungle take a Land Rover, if you want to come out again take a Landcruiser'. He upset the office secretary who had a Discovery.

Sounds like a LC 70 series is needed.

MotorEasy is a fairly generic used car warranty - and it comes in three levels, varying what's covered...

Is your policy level A, B, or C, OP?

Of course any warranty will "cover it as long as the parts were warrantied parts" - or, rather, won't cover it if the parts aren't warrantied... So the question is what your warranty covers.
Mine is Plan A. I believe it does cover the turbo. This is the part of the engine that failed.

The sales of goods act states:

"The Sale of Goods Act offers protection against faulty goods even when the manufacturer's guarantee has run out. The act says goods must last a reasonable time - and that can be anything up to six years from the date of purchase"

With that in mind should an engine on a £62,000 car last longer that an average of 25,000 miles?
    I would have thought so.
Exactly the same as a £10k Dacia.
I know it shouldn't matter what the brand. A modern day engine should last way longer.
As I said I came on here really with hat in hand. I know I've been foolish. However I want to challenge this.
Too many of these premium brands are not providing the quality they should. I'm ok because I will survive this. However others may get caught by this and they will not fight it like me, because I will not give up.

Good luck with your fight, I only hope that your lack of service history isn't a problem.
I do have a service history. Just not at a dealership which I was told prior to doing it, by Jaguar Land Rover finance that I was ok to do as long as they used Authentic Jaguar Land Rover Parts. The garage I used have confirmed they did use the relevant JLR service pack.

I'm neither I'm in IT LOL

Ok though the kids do go to private school. Not my decision have been skint ever since. :-(
  • My sister has had no end of trouble with her Land Rover. I can't understand why they're so highly thought of. Bog standard makes like Kia and Hyundai have much higher reliability ratings and much longer warranties.

The power of marketing, reliability surveys show the premium german marques near the bottom as well, doesn't seem to hurt sales.

This reminds me of a saying
If you want to go into the jungle buy a Landrover. If you want to come out again buy a Landcruiser.
