Welcome to the 21st century.  Data is a huge commodity and it is being traded whether or not you like it.  All those check boxes that you ticked, or forgot to tick, may have allowed a company to share your information with 'selected third parties'.
I don't need welcoming, I've been here a while and not naive. I'm actually really careful with this kind of thing, and young enough to check every text box. This tells me somewhere things have slipped through the net, so I want to know the leak so to speak.
However ever careful you (or anybody else) may be it is still possible to make a mistake. Often these tick boxes can be very cleverly worded, sometimes almost with double negatives, plus some companies alternate between ticking to opt in and ticking to opt out. So unless you give every single one almost forensic like scrutiny......

Yes it is annoying and if you really want to pursue it then write to all the companies where you feel you ticked all the right boxes and make a subject access request for all the information they hold about you.

Even if you catch the culprit (if there is one) and complain to the information commissioner all they will get is a very minor slap on the wrist which they will have factored in as an occupational hazard.

    Are you registered ? https://www.mpsonline.org.uk/#

Isthat about as effective as the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) I wonder ??

No.  The vast majority of junk mail senders do abide as they are UK based and genuine companies.  The telephone calls are usually from overseas scammers, a big difference.  I don't get any addressed junk from companies I am not already connected with.
