Approximately how much will it cost to install an electric shower?

I'd really like a shower, but as I have separate hot and cold water tanks, it seems that an electric shower is my best chioce. I'm looking for possibly 8.5/9.5kw. How much will it cost for the plumbing and electrics for installation? Will the workmen supply the fittings, or will it be better if I get them myself (of course on advice of what is needed)?

i would say ask your friends if they know any electricians, phone around a few and get about 4 quotes (if you can stand it)
get them to suggest which one is best for you - then look up the parts online and see if they are up-ing the prices..?Willow: I knew it, I knew it, well not in the sense of having the slightest idea, but I knew there was something I didn't know!0 -

When I had my electric shower fitted, I had to have a new fuse fitted in my fuse box. Also as my bathroom is downstairs and at the other end of the house to the fusebox it took a lot of cable and hassle to get it across. This was the expensive bit.
But the plumbing was really simple as the water tank is right next to the bathroom.
I think you need to get a few quotes from electricians and plumbers and then compare them.0 -
I'm not 100% sure but if you have two tanks it may be easier and cheaper to install a mira shower. As long as you have decent water pressure just connect both the hot water and the cold water feeds and eliminate the electrician!
I'm putting in an electric shower now. I bought a triton 9.5kw shower in a 505 off sale for £45, that was the easiest bit. for 9,5kw you need 10mm twin and earth cable, and a 40amp RCD fuse thingy. I also needed to build a stud wall (had a ledge) to put the shower onto, re-tile etc.
I called an electrician in for a look, and he stated i'd need to change the light to a fully enclosed one,(fair enough) and change or move the fan (no windows in my bathroom), and earth every metal fixing in the room, in order to comly with the new regs. He reckoned on doing it on an hourly basis and would take about 2-4 hours. i.e approx £100.0
