I have bought a 9kw shower and just telephoned a installation company and they advised me it would have been £100 cheaper to install an 8.5kw shower.
I am thinking of flogging my 9.0kw shower and buying a 8.5kw but worry if i do that the pressure will be a lot less.
The question is is it?
thanks
Paul

Difference in flow will be very small (about 5.5%). I do not understand why 9Kw is £100 more expensive to install. The only difference could be that it needs thicker cable. It is more likely to be the difference between showers price.0

Go and get a price for 10mm Tw+earth cable and you'll understand why.If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!

10mm T&E is recommended for anything over 7.5Kw anyway, so can't see that this would be the cause in price increase. He huihuinga taangata he pukenga whakaaro – A meeting of people; a wellspring of ideas (Maori proverb)0

On a short run with exposed cable 6mm is sometimes ok for a 8.5kw shower so maybe this explains why.
Why an electric shower anyhow?
If you have a cylinder you could get a power shower with a brilliant flow. If you have a combi of mains heater you could just buy a mixing valve and IMHO get a shower flow better than that of a 9kw electric shower . No need to run wires this way ( ok apart from small supply to power shower pump) so savings made there .
Find out where the hot water comes from then have a re think.
MarkOn the internet you can be anything you want. It`s strange so many people choose to be rude and stupid.0
