Replacing cast iron radiators with new ones

I’d have been beyond furious if a house I was buying had lovely features radiators removed and replaced with something from B&Q.
I’d view is as about as bad as removing sash windows and replacing them with plastic ones, or taking out exposed oak ceiling beams and putting in some pressed steel instead.2 -
Thanks everyone! We do have an offer and are in the early stages of conveyancing. Naturally, I will ask the buyer if they want them as it's certainly not worth losing a buyer over. We think they probably didn't see them when they were viewing as they were hidden behind sofas and COVID restrictions meant they weren't allowed to touch anything. Also, they were not mentioned by the EA at all.
The best point above, was about whether they fit the new place - did not think about that. So, yes we will probably get some when we know the correct size.1 -
'Efficiency' of radiators doesn't matter very much, unless you are trying to minimise the ratio of the size of the radiator to the size of the room, or conversely trying to improve the speed at which that specific room heats up. It's just a heat transfer from a warmer source (the water in the pipes) to a cooler sink (the air in the room), not an energy transition (like gas to heat).
If you want to get a room to a particular temperature, you have to transfer the same amount of energy regardless*, a given radiator will just do it slower or faster.
But yeah, don't take the radiators. Get new ones (or reclaimed) for your new place.
* to a first and very close approximation.0
