    We have an outlook email, does that count and if it does, how do we go about getting the bitlocker code?

    Yes, the tablet is around five years old and worked perfectly up until now.

    Go to https://account.microsoft.com/devices/recoverykey , log in with your Outlook login, and see if the recovery key is listed there.
