My wife has an Asus tablet and yesterday got a message when she started it up - Bitlocker recovery key.
She tried to enter the code in the box provided but it would only accept numbers no letters. Has anyone else had this problem?

The recovery key is just numbers, quite a lot of them.If she or you don't remember ever turning Bitlocker on manually, then the recovery key is probably in your Microsoft account. If she did turn it on manually, and the key isn't in the MS account, she might have to find the printout made or file saved.2

Thanks for the reply. I can't recall having a Microsoft account, neither can my wife. How would you turn on bitlocker manually?

Don't think so, neither of us do.

We have a laptop which is quite new and running Windows 10. At least 3 times there has been a screen about bitlocker which has never been set up or used on the machine concerned (or any other machine for that matter). So far restarting has solved the problem but I fear a day when that does not work.0

How would you turn on bitlocker manually? If you have none of those, you might have set up the PC with a different email address, and created a Microsoft account with that address. You could have an MS account with a gmail email address for example. Try logging in to Microsoft using any emails she or you regularly use and doing "Forgotten Password" if you need to.Bitlocker could have been turned on through Control Panel or Settings or by right-clicking the C drive and choosing it.PS: I am assuming this is a tablet she's had for ages and it used to work fine. Not something she only just bought that's giving this message when first turned on.
