Winter Fuel Payment

Do "mixed-age couples" qualify for the £200 winter fuel payment.
My wife is not yet at pension age, but I am.
Also: Do I have to apply for it (if we qualify) and if so - where?
Thanks in advance for real newbie questions.

OP would need to apply for the winter fuel payment if they have deferred claiming state pension and are not in receipt of other benefits.poppy12345 said:Coquetshack said: Criteria is here and if you qualify it's automatically paid. https://www.gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.3 -
I have financial POA for my mum and noticed her £300 winter fuel allowance was paid a few days ago - just as a point of interest in case anyone is wondering when it is paid.1

Thanks everyone. Strangely, no-one has answered the specific question. (And the eligibility criteria do not address the issue either).
Does me being in a "mixed-age couple" (one of pension age, one not disqualify me from receiving the Winter Fuel Allowance.

You will receive £200. My husband received his last year, and has just had a letter confirming payment for this year. I don't get my State Pension until Jan 2021. Next year we will each receive £100.

Here is the guidance that has already been linked:-Do you meet the criteria as a couple and have you clicked on the eligible hyperlink?
If you were born on or before 5 October 1954 you could get between £100 and £300 to help you pay your heating bills. This is known as a ‘Winter Fuel Payment’.
You usually get a Winter Fuel Payment automatically if you are eligible and you get the State Pension or another social security benefit (not Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Child Benefit or Universal Credit).
If you’re eligible but do not get paid automatically, you will need to make a claim.

Clearly you didn't read all of the link i posted above because your answer is in there.Coquetshack said:Thanks everyone. Strangely, no-one has answered the specific question. (And the eligibility criteria do not address the issue either).

Didn't respond because i thought the links poppy provided were clear enough. There is absolutely no suggestion in there that being in a relationship with someone below the qualifying age would affect entitlement.Coquetshack said:Thanks everyone.
