Symbio Energy - check your bills vs direct debits

  • You need to save every single document that they send - it's also worth retaining copies of their T&C's which have been changed at least twice since I joined last year.
I’d certainly agree with that.   Ten days after my complaint was acknowledged by the Ombudsman and I guess Symbio also notified, I received updated T&C’s. They had been changed to imply that should you have the audacity to go to the Ombudsman, they would continue to supply you but may encourage you to find a new supplier.

Could that possibly be the T&C's that still send you to a completely unrelated email address if you have a complaint? i.e:

    "TERMS & CONDITIONS  Version: 0.03  Date:02/06/2020  Page 12 of 13
    OUR COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE
15.1 If you are unhappy with our service, you can make a complaint by calling us or emailing us at customerservices@symbio.co.uk."

     - Should of course read customerservices@symbioenergy.co.uk. (Symbio.co.uk is an unconnected 'soil services' company). SE were still sending this version out at least in September even though their mistake (?) was pointed out on this forum many months previous to June. Makes you wonder doesn't it.

  • Sorry to hear so many having problems with Symbio. I have just finished one year with them ,accurate billing, and signed up for another Economy 7 Low Fair and Green 12M fixed SE03 v3 which is lower than anything SME could recommend. When I queried SME why they did not list any Symbio offers their reply was because Symbio had not told them!! Surely SME should go looking especially as Symbio has been very competitive in recent times, U Switch did better.

Always start comparing with Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'.
  • Support please . . . Having used £340 of electricity in the last Quarter, Symbio have estimated my Jan 2021 bill to be £337 on its own.  I have tried to contact them as this is not something I can pay and in no way reflects my usage.  They send me an automated email saying it is based on Estimated use for the month.  I can not get anyone to respond.  It is ridiculous and there seems to be nothing I can do except cancel my direct debit and move on. (If my bank has not already done so!)
Has anyone else had similar issues with their "estimated" costs?

You have being giving them monthly readings?

Go to your account now and update what you now have on meter.

Have a look through this thread on Symbios use of estimates. LOL

Symbio are certainly known for their over the top estimates . Very important to give them meter reads on the last day of each month. However any over estimation is corrected the following month. I have been with them for nearly two years now and in the beginning it was a complete nightmare but as time goes on they have improved with their estimates.
