Symbio Energy - check your bills vs direct debits

Following this as I've also moved to PFP so hope to reconcile everything from my switch date of 13/11.
Just checked my bills over the last year and I noticed that in May 2020 SE upped my standing charge and energy charge by a small amount (11.85->11.875p/kwh + VAT for energy, 14.25->14.286p for standing charge). The change could have been from April but i unfortunately can't find my April bill....It doesn't make a huge difference to the final outcome for me (about a pound or so) but might be worth double checking the actual tariff charges on your bills!

If your situation is similar to mine (and others presumably) you will find that in April it finally dawned on Symbio that, up to this point, they had actually been undercharging by about 0.3% compared to the tariff charges quoted at sign-up. Apart from compounding their mismanagement and general disarray this must have impacted their bottom line such that they became ever more determined to claw in cash any way possible, even to the point of disenchanting numerous customers by their outlandish usage projections and sporadic CS.arley said:Following this as I've also moved to PFP so hope to reconcile everything from my switch date of 13/11.

Thanks for this thread, really helpful. I am awaiting my final bill after switching away from Symbio at the end of last month, band will do some calculations in anticipation. I can't find details of how much I was actually paying on my tariff on their website though - anyone have any idea where historic tariff costs are stored!? I have not enjoyed being a Symbio customer one bit!0

They'll be at the bottom of one of your email bills (page 3/4 if I remember correctly). Tariff will be quoted without VAT (5%)bannanna said:Thanks for this thread, really helpful. The tariff rates you are actually being charged are shown in the calculations on your bill. But if you need to compare these with what you signed up to, and don't have a record, you can try going on a comparison/switching site such as MSE's CEC tool and entering your original tariff name (shown at the foot of your bill) where asked for in your details. These unit rates will then be shown under your details.bannanna said:Thanks for this thread, really helpful. It is Symbio. I would like to think everyone does keep a copy of the monthly bill that is sent to them. LOLThe world is not ruined by the wickedness of the wicked, but by the weakness of the good. Napoleon1

But you need your original sign-up emails to know the tariff you were meant to be on. The only rates on the bill are the ones they're charging you - which for me were lower than initailly agreed for the first 8 or 9 months.0

Kept them all. Know what tariff / rates I was on originally and also new tariff just renewed as well. They did decide to add a £25 exit fee to renewal, but now fixed with apology.
They are cheapest to me at moment, but can move anytime.
Suspect they will go the same way as my previous suppliers LOL.
Will probably have to pay a few weeks at new rates to OFGEMs supplier of choice though.

You need to save every single document that they send - it's also worth retaining copies of their T&C's which have been changed at least twice since I joined last year.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

Thanks all. Done the sums and they align with what Symbio have charged me. Absolutely flabbergasted. But there's still time for the final bill bombshell...! Hopefully they won't keep me in suspense too much longer as I switched nearly a month ago.0
