Facebook messenger help on iphone 11-not receiving push notifications

I'm hoping somebody can help me here. I have been trying for days to fix this.
Facebook messenger is not sending me 'push' notifications on my Iphone. I will only know if I have a message if I go into the messenger App itself. I am receiving messages on the desktop version fine.
I have tried all the settings on notifications but to no avail.
If I delete the Facebook app I will receive the push notifications fine.
Can anyone please help it's driving me insane.(I do a lot of work through messenger and am missing important messages.)
