Amazon price drop refund

Options
Hi, I bought an Alexa a couple of days ago and the price dropped by half today. Anyone know if it’s possible to ask for the price difference back?  I want to avoid returning if possible.  Thanks!

    You can try.

  • Of course it's possible to ask.  It's also possible they'll say no. You could return and pre-order, but if you've connected it already that probably won't be worthwhile.

Alexa devices have been half price for a few days now, so what did you buy for full price? All the Speakers were half price at least 2 days ago probably more.

Just checked the All-new Echo Dot (4th generation) which is at sale 28.99, according to the camel it's been on sale since Sept 24 at 49.99 and hasn't updated the price yet.

Amazon don't usually allow part refunds due to price drops. I've tried on several occasions. It happened once that an item I purchased dropped by £50 even before it had been delivered. They wouldn't give me the difference back - so I ordered it again at the reduced price - received two - sent the higher priced one back - although of course they were the same item.  That was the only workaround I could come up with.

I purchased a Roku streaming device a few weeks back during Amazon's last big sales event and they automatically refunded an amount later when the price dropped even further. Always worth asking.

TBH, I wouldn't be buying anything from Amazon yet until the Black Friday sales fully kick in.

You are still in your return window so its a simple conversation... either mark this one down or I’ll order a replacement and send this one back for a refund.

If it were something other than an Amazon own product you’d almost certainly be able to just return the new item as the original one to save having to pack it back up etc but being an Amazon own product don’t know if they track serial numbers more closely etc.
  • If they had doubled the price a couple of days after you purchased it would you be happy for them to ask you for the higher amount?

But a vender doesnt have a statutory right to rescind a contract of sale whereas a buyer buying remotely does.

"Alexa" devices are usually configured to your Amazon account prior to shipping. (I guess this is merely a case of allocating the device ID - e.g. serial number - to the account, not an actual config exercise as you still need to set it up when it arrives. But as soon as it gets Internet access it knows it is part of your account).
