Or asked differently:  what have people set their thermostat to before the heating comes on?

I have put positively tropical because we have ours set to 21 degrees C in the evening.

But during the day when I am working from home it is set to 18 degrees. Overnight it is set to 16 degrees and then we have it set to 19 degrees for an hour in the morning while we get up and have breakfast.

Temp set at 19 degrees.  I would rather be hungry than cold, I hate, hate being cold and refuse to visit relatives who do not put heating on.

I guess it depends on the relatives   - I can see a way forward for a deterrent for the pesky ones I might not want to see

Are the suggested temperature for inside or outside - my system sits at 19 degrees during the day and 17 overnight and then just does whatever it needs to, summer or winter with an occasional tweak upwards if it feels particularly chilly (usually when its both windy and raining outside which tend to suck the heat out of the place)

Personally I try to keep the heating off for as long as I can.

I don't feel the cold as much as other people though and am still wearing shorts some days if I'm going for a long walk.

I have never really understood this mindset of keeping the heating off as long as possible. If it is cold it is cold, doesn't matter what time of year it is.

I hate being cold but even so we don't have huge gas bills because the house retains it's heat well so the heating is never running flat out to heat a stone cold house through.

Quick question & I know it sounds stupid but does a boiler need to be on constant for the thermostat to work/take effect?
