Not getting notification sounds on Motorola G7 Power

Maybe just a G7 or GMail problem as my and partners Moto E5 Play both alert us to emails being received. I didn't check if it would happen with volume turned down.

Since I followed my own advice that I gave in my previous post, I am still getting email notifications - both audible and vibratory. (Moto G8 Plus). If it hasn't worked for the OP then I can't help further ... except to ask - what Android OS do you have? (I'm on 10 with the October 2020 security patch).

I hadn't reported back here for the simple reason that I don't have anything constructive to report after I followed various suggestions made elsewhere and got nowhere at all.  Then yesterday, for no apparent reason whatsosever, the phone started behaving normally once again whereas 24 hours previously I had no notifications, and emails incoming to primary account not showing on the list until I tapped "All accounts".  It's a complete mystery to me, but at least it's working properly once again.  (Android 10, latest update applied)
