Can I return mobile for a refund after 6 months?
Options
I bought a fairly cheap phone from Tesco's in May, a Nokia 2.2. it was not a fancy smartphone as all i wanted was to be able to make calls, texts, browse occasionally, take photographs and use WhatsApp and the Wickes App. I do not do music/video's/games etc. The phone cost £85 and reveiws sounded okay. While i was not expecting much, I have been struggling with it for several months. The internal storage is only 16GB but the system and installed Apps take up nearly 14GB (Android takes up 10GB). I cannot leave photo's on the phone but have to back them up and delete them. Video's the same. I keep clearing junk files and caches but the phone tells me that the internal storage is nearly full and it will stop the phone working. Regularly, the camera will not work as the storage is full. I added a large SD card but am unable to move anything onto it, to make a difference.
I have been communicating with Nokia today but I have already tried their suggestions or they do not make a difference. Now they are saying
The space used by the System is the required space for the Android and the Bootloader to run properly on the device. The standard storage on the different models is decided by the Nokia developers and it is in line with the price and the requirements of the users.
So they have made a phone that requires so much space for the Android system that it does not work properly!
I was silly to not take this up sooner but i kept hoping that someone would be able to help. Do i have a right to reject the mobile as Not Fit for Purpose?
Many thanks.

You need to change the default settings for photo storage via the camera app to divert them to the sd card. Some apps can be run from the sd card (change location via Settings then check each individual app) but aside from that there's not a lot you can do.
Unfortunately I can't see you getting anywhere with trying to reject the phone as not fit for purpose, especially after 6 months.
If you don't want to get involved with trying to sell it on ebay then cex may be a good alternative. If you take a voucher for payment then you may be able to buy a half decent second hand phone from them once they reopen their stores.

Have you set the card to shared storage, that way you should be able to move some of the apps to it ? Have you selected the card to store the photos ?The problem is that the phone is fit for purpose - it makes phone calls, takes photos and connects to the internet - but it may not be fit for what you want it to do and unless you told the sales person precisely what you expected it to do and they said it would - and you can prove that - you are on a hiding to nothing.1

There was no sales person at Tesco's. I shall see if any of your suggestions make a difference, I did think its too late now, but I still think it is not fit for purpose. There should be sufficient internal storage to be able to use the Mobile without it telling me that it will not work properly. However, i shall just accept that its useless and get another one.thanks for the comments.0

Research your next phone as the limitations of current phone are well known in advance .

Nokia cannot predict what you are going to use your phone for and how many thousands of apps you're going to install from the Play store. The space issue may be because that phone uses Android One, which is not the same thing as Android Go. Go is the stripped down version of Android, and One is sort of closer to stock without being stock Android so it will take up more space on the phone, but its plausible you wouldn't have known that when you bought it if you weren't aware.Still, you'll know for next time2

OP, when you get around to buying a replacement it may be wise to ask on here for suggestion once you have a realistic idea of what you need, and budget of course

32gb is the bare minimum for a mobile0

This was quite a problem with phones a few years back, the Nokia range has improved but the 1 and 2 series are for emerging markets. You could try a factory reset and see if that helps1
