Hi All
@LadyWithAPlan - good news re THE shoes, the seller told her sister how much I wanted them and she agreed to her selling them to me, they are en route, I'm so happy!! I've also had another sell on V!nted and a dress I was buying refunded so funds slowly building.
Payday on Thursday so will update everything then, savings will be down due to the new car and associated expenses. I've been told we are getting a payrise this year, just hope it's a good one as the last couple of years we have only had about 1%, the joys of working in the non-profit sector! Plus I am having to take on so much more responsibility I hope it reflects that as well.
I am doing a sewing course - learnt to put zips in yesterday - woohoo! but definitely will need a lot of practice to make it look neat! Plus there was the weird - what bit goes where - fabric vs right side vs zip teeth - we were all a bit mind boggled (I had had a delayed early morning flight but I would have been mind boggled anyway I think)
Fingers crossed for pay raise.,DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Oooh - a sewing course! How exciting! You'll be making ball gowns before you know it 👗 I use this site. You can look up fabrics and patterns and people who've sewn them before post photos and write about their experiences. It's a good way of finding out how best to tackle things and if there are any pattern glitches, etc.
Have fun stitching 🧵

Hi All
Thank you @debtfreewannabe321, @Aimingforthegoodlife and @LadyWithAPlan for the lovely comments, I am really pleased with the car, it's lovely to drive, really low mileage and in fabulous conditionTHE shoes have arrived at the pick up point, I just have to get there, work is crazy and I'm oncall 24/7 this week.
Payday today, I've updated my signature, savings have actually gone up by £415 which I am pleasantly surprised at with the car expenses etc. I've hopefully got a few cheaper months coming up, most of the birthdays are out of the way, apart from Dad's, I better get him something nice after the car! DD will be home for the summer from the end of May so I won't be sending her her weekly food money.
Good news on the payrise front, I think our Board must have been reading my posts!! I will be getting a 4% payrise and it also looks like I might get another small increase due to the extra responsibilities although this hasn't been confirmed yet
I'm on call all weekend so planning on sorting out some cupboards and listing some more bits on V!nted, I did have 3 bags of clothing that was listed, now down to just one, shows how much I have cleared!
Have a fabulous Easter

I think with my not perfect straight sewing and my dodgier zips on expensive fabrics... thats a few decades away
Thanks for the site though - I love a full length gown.
Yeah to the payrise.

Hi All
Hope you have had a lovely Easter weekend. As I was on call we didn't plan to do anything but did manage to spruce up the garden, grass cut, pergola plants trimmed, borders weeded and patio and paths pressure washed so it is looking a lot tidier. Plenty of blossom on the plum and cherry trees so hoping for a good crop again this year, last year was pitiful. We also gave my old car a good clean inside and out, just need some sun now so that I can take some nice pictures with the roof down and get it sold. DD had a fab time in Dublin and got home in time for a yummy Lamb roast on Sunday. Yesterday I took DD to a local Honesty Stall which I love, I bought several Christmas presents there previously, it was a bit sparse this time, I think they had had a busy weekend but we bought a bacon and cheese quiche, another with spinach, feta and pine nuts, wild garlic and lemon pesto, chilli and lime jelly and a rhubarb and ginger jam for my mum, all homemade and all yummy, in fact the quiches were still warm when we got them.
I didn't manage to list anything on V!nted but did have another sale which I posted off and I picked up THE shoes, they fit like a glove, I'm so pleased. I did sort through some of the kitchen cupboards, including the notorious plastic container cupboard, I swear those things breed!!
A friend has been out and sorted out some electrical issues that were affecting the lights in various parts of the house, took him hours and was a bit of a pig of a job but he only wanted £20, I gave him £40 and that was still cheap and at least its all sorted and safe now.
@Fortune_Smiles and @LadyWithAPlan, I have 2 sewing machines stashed in the loft, one old Frister and Rossman black and gold hand machine and another old electric one, I really should get them down and try to get back into making and adapting items and I'm sure DD would love to be able to customise clothing too. @Fortune_Smiles, I'm nowhere near Ballgown level I'm afraid!! DD's mum was a seamstress but unfortunately I never met her, she had passed before we got together, but I would have loved to have some of her knowledge and skill.
Have a great day

Hi All
This week has flown by, been busy with recruitment and a big piece of work but all done now.
Not a lot planned for this weekend, the weather is looking shocking. Might see if DH and DD fancy a trip to cinema to see Ghostbusters? I will make use of the time to sort our bedroom, it's become a bit chaotic. We also need to do some work in the conservatory to rectify the damage caused by a leak whilst we were on holiday at the start of the year; the plasterboard has blown so we are going to remove it and see what is underneath, I think it is a rendered wall which I'm happy to just paint and make a feature of.
Another short week next week, taking my 2 lieu days from the Easter Bank Holidays and going to a concert with my best friend and the weather is actually looking nice for it!
Have a lovely weekend all
