If it passed an MOT and has been professionally repaired than what's the issue?

Come on, no insurance company in the land will request the windscreen fitter exam the screen for pre-existing repairs and even if they found one would be on the phone the insurers says they wont replace the screen as the client has repaired it previously.0 -

No insurer will cover damage which occurred before the policy was in place. The previous repair is irrelevant.BTW do you mean "moot"?

It wouldn't be insurance fraud if you created a new crack in the windscreen0

"creating" a new crack means deliberately damaging the windscreen in order to make an insurance claim and as they would have to lie about how the damage occurred, how can that be anything other than fraud?0 -

Not sure why the age of the vehicle is of any consequence. A stone chip can happen at any time. You have done well to get money out of the dealer. Leave it at that if it passed the MOT. Monitor in case of further cracks though.

The age question is relevant ... in that the older the vehicle (and/or the more miles travelled), the more likely there is to be a chip.
I think we all agree on the OP's way forward though.0
