Credit card refund problems

in Credit cards
I purchased a carpet in August through my credit card and i noticed faults in it after it had been fitted. After 6 weeks of the shop ignoring me I contacted my credit card, they agreed with the evidence and refunded me. Now a few days ago a employee of the manufacturer turned up and repaired the item (not the shop)
I am now getting emails from the shop saying I have to repay the refunded money. Should I repay? Should I tell them to contact my credit card company?
Thanks for any advice..

I would ask your credit card company the question.#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

I have, it could take a while for a reply.0

It would be unwise to repay the shop - they did not send you the money. You could find yourself sending the money to the shop, only to be also asked to repay the CC company.
If you do decide to repay, deal with the CC company only as they are the ones who refunded you.
Are you satisfied with the repair?1 -
Yes the repair is fine. It’s just it had nothing to do with the shop repairing it, it was someone from the manufacturers who came. It’s the first time the shop has contacted us about the problem, as they now want paying.0

What kind of carpet fault can be repaired without (presumably) fitting a new one?
Do you have evidence to show that it was someone from the manufacturer?
The store has 45 days to challenge a 'chargeback' - which I think is what has happened here - if they are over this time they cannot get their money back from the bank.
Now it could get interesting?1 -
Well yes, if the carpet shop now dont get their money they could, in theory, issue small claim court proceedings against the OP. One to sort out, and quickly.0

The fault was pulls in the carpet, we have evidence in a receipt that the repair was carried out on behalf of the carpet manufacturer. The refund was issued to us on the 17th of September. Is it 45 days or 45 working days?0

It does not matter if the repairs were conducted by the manufacturer or the store, you now effectively have a carpet for free, it will need to be paid for. If you paid the manufacturer for the repair they you may be able to claim that amount back from the store, but if you did not pay then the full amount would still be due.
The 45 days is 45 days, but the matter does not still end there, that us just for them to challenge the charge back. You still owe the money, their next move will be either debt collection via a debt collector, or to obtain a CCJ, which they will in all probability win.
Contact your card provider, explain to them what had happened, they can reverse the charge back.1 -
The thing is I did pay them, it was the credit card company who took the money back not me.bradders1983 said:Well yes, if the carpet shop now dont get their money they could, in theory, issue small claim court proceedings against the OP. One to sort out, and quickly.0 -
And the credit card company will have taken the money you paid the carpet company off of them, at YOUR request. Either one of two things will need to happen or you run the risk of being taken to court by the carpet company:john.h said:

1) get the credit card company to reverse what they did (the suggested route)
2) pay back the carpet company yourself. Ensure you get a receipt.
As it stands you have a perfectly functioning carpet for the cost of £0.2
