SandyShores said:Thanks @LadyWithAPlan, I'm hoping there's nothing too much to fix (if anything) at the dentist - fingers very crossed.
Its funny how when you are younger you almost wish time away, but although I'm looking forward to paying the mortgage off, it doesn't feel quite the same. Although I am determined to get fitter, so maybe I'll be out mountain climbing by then
We've made a decision to start eating more healthily now, and I've upped my exercise. I used to do a lot of different sports, but things happen and then before you know it everything is too much trouble. I don't think being in never ending debt helped that, and things are definitely lighter and brighter now that has almost gone.
Thanks @savingholmes, I definitely need to prioritise myself from now onAchieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

I've upped my exercising so am on my way there, and am starting to eat a lot better. Just being kinder to myself and trying to treat myself like I would treat others.

Thanks, you too Savingholmes.
You're very welcome debtfreeoneday, its so good to have people to share this journey with. It keeps me going
The ToDo list has been stagnant this week, but I have plans to tackle it soon - so hopefully more news there soon. I've just added another £6 to the Xmas saver, so together with bonus Nect@r points I have already reached the target for October. Just one more month to go and its spend spend spendSeriously though, we don't splash much on Xmas - its for the cat's vaccs and my car service really - plus there's a bit for a turkey and a bit of cash for the grown up little ones. It works out really well - I know its been suggested that I put money away monthly for those but this just works for me at the moment.
Its been a tough week this week in terms of work and keeping going, but I'm pleased to have looked after myself. So although I'm tired I don't feel like I've been through the wringer. Looking forward to a relaxing weekend. Hope everyone has a good one too."Think of many things, do one"

Keep on keeping on @SandyShores. I'm with you on paired back Christmas, a few years ago now, MrCP and I both had flu in the week before and on 'the day', it lifted so much pressure, we've never gone back! It's still lovely, I've spent years building up a collection of handmade glass baubles all bought for 50-70% off on Boxing day and kept the receipts so my first Christmas Gift is how much I've saved! I'm now at a point where I don't need any more, and providing I keep them out of the way of the puppy, never will!2014 starting mortgage £165,0002015 second charge £20,000 - Jan 2021 paid off in fullCurrent outstanding balance - £115,8564

Aw thanks Chiglepig. When I was with my first partner, we had to go to his parents every year (family tradition) and it was the most awful time ever, very strained. Put me off for a long time. It always seems to be the men in my life that want to spend it with family - probably says a lot about my choices
Hope you keep your baubles safe from the puppy. I would love to have a tree in the garden with lights on, there's something magical about it.
Debtfreeoneday, it certainly works for you, I would love to have your mortgage. Thanks, you're right, I just found I was spending my points and vouchers on nothing much, but saving them all up gives it a real purpose - I've got everyone trained to give me their receipts and to collect points. I know 5p a receipt seems so little, but when I see the £s mount up its all worth it.
Well, the cat has just come running in the catflap with his tail all fluffed up, so I guess some excitement has been going on outside. I'm all set for the weekend now and going to make the most of every minute."Think of many things, do one"

We always do Christmas just the 4 of us. My parents often come on boxing day for Pie and Peas as an evening meal and that's us done really. So it's Christmas day x 2 for the kids because they get presents off my parents too who usually go clothes mad, so I don't really have to buy them much else the rest of the year - result!Reduction in daily mortgage interest since October 23 (new mortgage) - £2.36 July 25
