Gordon and Noble, court action

1 year ago I was working in Scotland and outside a a pub, didn’t see the sign for no parking exceeding 2 hours. I contacted smart parking (which is stupid I know) and told them who I was, now Gordon’s are threatening to take me to court. What should I do? 

I’m in England now not Scotland, so what would be the best course of action as I can’t find many threads regarding this issue.

Ignore them unless they actually file a claim.  Unless they have the wrong address for you? Put that right.

The letter states legal action has been commenced and I must seek legal advice. The letter came to my correct address. I’m getting worried now.

Show us the letter.  Cover your name and address and the PCN/refs only.

We'd want to see if it says they have started a claim in Scotland, yet they know you live in England.

The letter is ripped as I was going to throw it away until I realised how serious it was.

Reply and tell them the last time you looked, there isn't a Sheriff Court in your County in England and a 'Notice to Owner' is a statutory document issued by Local Authorities, so they appear to simply be engaged in a scam form of harassment.

Does that heading really say xxxx Parking Ltd v 'You'?

So they haven’t started taking legal action as of yet? How do I reply, do I write a letter. Yeah, Smart Parking LTD v You. 

Should I be worried , or should I be expecting a letter from the court. Obviously I’m in England so for the sheriffs court, I know where you’re coming from, England don’t have that. 

I’m very clueless on how to approach this, I got worried when I seen it’s an actual debt collection agency.

You just need to read the 4th post of the NEWBIES thread.  You don't seem to know that debt collectors are not bailiffs.

I’ll give it a read. Do I reply to this with a letter? Any advice would be appreciated massively right now.

Generally speaking, do not reply to debt collectors. The more you engage with them, the more they realise that they are worrying you, the more they will continue to harry you!

But follow CM's suggestion above, but do not get into any ongoing communications with G&N.
