We waited 5 and a half hours!

  • Just to make things a bit more clear, the call center people were as cross and frustrated as we were because they discovered that each time they notified the next department who actually then contact the breakdown drivers, NOTHING was ever done! It's even possible that if they had, there may have been someone available straight away.   At one time we were told that the floor manager was screaming at why the call wasn't going out despite having been moved up to critical having gone well over the 2-3 hour max which we were told it could be at the outset.  We didn't even call to ask what was happening until after this time period so it wasn't that we were being impatient at that time!  Also the breakdown driver was appalled at our situation and  shocked at not having been called earlier because he had been sat outside McDonalds just up the road for the last half hour doing nothing!. This isn't just a case of a long wait at a busy time but an UNDISPUTED case of the call DEFINITELY not going out until 10 mins before.  I've lost count of the number of times the call center used the word UNACCEPTABLE.  This wasn't just poor service but a serious of errors which put us in that position UNNECESSARILY.  I was not 'playing the pensioners card' just putting it into context as it caused us stress and anxiety which is heightened the older you get.  Also, no it was not during lockdown!

    It's a bit ironic as time is probably less valuable to a pensioner than most of the working population.

    It is so precious, you can't put a value on it.

    When I was toiling incessantly, I could count to a hundred in between each tick of the second hand of my watch, now the time is my own, I can barely focus on the hour hand, as it is moving so fast!

    As a kid I worked with a very amusing elderly guy who’d describe life’s passing years thus;
    “5...................10...............15..............20........30....40...50..60,Box!”___and he’d always bang his fist on the table to emphasize the word ‘Box’.

    Somewhat sardonic, but at least he could laugh about it. B)

    Thats what I always assumed, time is precious when you're older, however the time it takes a pensioner to put a few bits of shopping in a bag, pay for it then dawdle back to the car and slowly drive home you'd think they had all the time in the world left. You'd have thought with limited time left they'd do things a bit quicker.
  • @Jack_Cork, not me mate, scan the Tesco APP, into the Yaris GRMN and home at never less than the speed limit !

    Ha Ha, I know, its just something I shout out when I'm in a car behind an old codger who's been sat at a T junction for the last 20 minutes waiting to get out. Surely they haven't got that much time to waste, just go!!!!!

    I had to look that up - initially I thought it was a model fitted with a certain brand of sat nav.  Now I see it is the Yaris equivalent of the 205 GTi - very potent!  What does GRMN stand for?
  • @Grumpy_chap, too embarrassing to tell you myself.
    You can read the decode of GRMN here along with a few pictures.

    It's atrocious branding, isn't it?
