Sending leather with Hermes - prohibited item?

I tried to send a Hermes parcel containing shoes to Germany and found that "Landmark leather" is on the prohibited items list so my parcel is being returned to me. Does anyone know why this is? I have Googled but it does not seem to be a CITES listed item and I can find no information apart from a mention of it by Hermes and Parcel2Go.

Couriers restrict all manner of things, for instance resin ornaments aren’t covered by MyHermes (although they will carry them just not insure them). Landmark leather is definitely prohibited entirely by Hermes , and they don’t need to give any reason .Buster_Danog said:I tried to send a Hermes parcel containing shoes to Germany and found that "Landmark leather" is on the prohibited items list so my parcel is being returned to me. As an aside, I'm liking their prohibition on sending "filth."
Their prohibited list is longer than I expected. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I wondered that as well- the word landmark seems to be attached to several categories as though it denotes that some products are 'special' somehow.Ineedaservant said:Sorry, I have to ask, what is landmark leather and why is it different to leather in general. many thanksI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. With couriers generally and MyHermes in particular it is always worth checking the restrictions as they seem to ban just about everything. The resin one caught me out years ago, sent an ornament and the box was entirely destroyed - but I could get no compensation as resin was not insured- luckily it was only a few pounds and occasionally I do still risk it to save money knowing I can't claim.elsien said:As an aside, I'm liking their prohibition on sending "filth."

I feel the list would be a lot shorter if they listed what they did carry rather than the other way round.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Yes, that's what I was thinking as I was scrolling down it. I hadn't read it in full before because I presumed it was the usual no batteries, no perfume etc. Will take more care from now on.soolin said:

I feel the list would be a lot shorter if they listed what they did carry rather than the other way round. It wasn't Hermes but I once sent a box of watches that the courier admitted to throwing over a random garden wall in the vicinity of who I was sending it to. Watches were on an items not insured list, I hadn't checked. The courier was quite adamant about not paying until I kicked up a fuss about how they had admitted liability and queried if they wanted extra publicity about how they gratuitously lose parcels and expect the sender to suck it up. They sent me a cheque the next day!I don't really send much that makes a difference if it's insured these days. On topic you can often find a way to describe something that would be insured, similar to how you can "tweak" your profession in car insurance to get a better rate.

I'm wondering if it is due to Brexit.
There is an EU regulation (206/2009) which prohibits or restricts the imports of many animal related products from third countries (countries not in the EU) and animal skins and leather are on the list.0 -
Well, as far as I know, we aren't one officially yet.DiddyDavies said:I'm wondering if it is due to Brexit.

I have no idea what Landmark leather is and Google doesn't seem to be efficient at finding any info on the meaning.
Anyway, the parcel was marked that it would be returned to me. I hope it gets here because if I don't qualify for insurance and Hermes lose it then I am out of pocket by £80.0
