It's 16 hours and overnight since they posted, do expect them on here pressing refresh every 30 seconds?dinglebert said:First time poster with story which stretches belief and then never returns.
They posted as 4.33pm and have had plenty time to look at the responses. If it were me and needing specific help about something then I would be looking for the responses. I could of course be wrong. Often happens apparently.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. From the package, JL returned to us the boots were in the same size bag as the laptop but in a large shoe box rather than the laptop shaped box. They didn't weigh the parcel when we dropped it at the Heres collection point unfortunately.
We will get the credit card company involved I think. Would be good to know if the contract is between JL and Hermes as we used their suggested courier.
Ps. I have had a busy day of meetings so didn't have time to come back on to check responses every 5 mins. Not that I should have to justify. Thanks for your judgement and insinuations Dinglebert.0 -
If JL provided the returns label for the package, and paid for the return, then the contract is between JL and Hermes.1

They generally don't. They simply provide you with means to create a free return via Hermes, which you have to arrange yourself.Were_Doomed said:If JL provided the returns label for the package, and paid for the return, then the contract is between JL and Hermes.0 -
To me that's still a JL-Hermes contract ... Hermes won't be doing it for free, the consumer isn't paying it, so it can only be JL paying. (The consumer printing a label, affixing it to a package and transporting it to the drop-off point does not make the consumer part of the contract).2

Very odd how it's always a laptop or high-end phone that these cases seem to involve - best of luck sorting it out.JL employed Hermes for the delivery, so it's down to them to rectify.0

Whenever I have to return something of value, I always take photos of the contents and box at each layer and each stage of sealing it up. I assume the OP did not do that in this case, but it is a suggestion for the future.
I suppose there would be little demand for intercepting something of low value like a pair of socks.mattyprice4004 said:Very odd how it's always a laptop or high-end phone that these cases seem to involve1 -
Just because somebody takes photos doesn't stop them opening the package after and swapping out he item.Grumpy_chap said:Whenever I have to return something of value, I always take photos of the contents and box at each layer and each stage of sealing it up. That's true ... but some evidence is better than none.Spank said:
