It's not that specific and in my opinion open to different interpretations:

    Energy January 2022 v4 - Terms & Conditions
Signing up to this tariff means you are registering your interest to have a smart meter installed, where eligible. We will contact you to arrange a suitable installation date.

It seems that the 'exclusive CEC collective switch' terms & conditions are different to all other Shell tariffs then!
Is this why it is a so called exclusive collective tariff, to satisfy their smart meter fitting quota?

OK. Separate suppliers are cheaper as usual.  I've used Zog a couple times and would recommend. If you read threads on here, the feedback on Eon isn't too hot. I'd use a smaller supplier with sensible monthly billing.
Appreciate the advice to consider using separate suppliers. Doesn't seem to be much feedback on PFP Energy. British Gas Evolve just seems to be an online-only account with UK-based agent support. I was a bit concerned as the PFP Energy tariff is fixed until 30/11/21, whereas the British Gas Evolve tariff is fixed for 15 months, but there's no exit fee for the British Gas Evolve tariff and so I could switch away early when the tariff with PFP Energy is up.

Zog Energy are a whopping £3 more for the year than British Gas Evolve, so I might consider going with them for gas instead, which would bring my estimated annual consumption to £570 (still £30 cheaper than the Shell Energy dual-fuel tariff). I think the £50 cashback with the Shell Energy tariff is a nice bonus which drew me in initially and I thought that would offset the slightly higher annual cost.

Just started switch through Energy Club and received the welcome email from Shell (as above). Online chat confirmed I must have a smart meter installed, so have cancelled switch.

I have also just cancelled my switch. I'll be moving to PFP Energy and British Gas Evolve. Can I start the process of switching to other suppliers straight away or should I contact Avro first just to check?

Doesn't seem to be much feedback on PFP Energy.
PFP Energy can't be trusted because they give fake quotations.  If you ask for an Economy 7 quotation for electricity, they'll make an arbitrary assumption about your night usage.  If the percentage you use is less, then you'll be charged more than their-so-called quotation promised.
However, the comparison sites usually get it right because they don't fiddle the results.  Always check by looking at the kWh rates and daily charges and then doing the sums yourself.

The quote I had from PFP didn't add up at first (I did the sums):
    • Estimated annual cost: £231.72
    • Unit rate: 12.1275p per kWh
    • Standing charge: 19.1294p per day
Annual standing charge (365 * 19.1294p) = £69.82. Annual unit rate cost (1500 * 12.1275p) = £181.91. Total annual cost (£69.82 + £181.91) = £251.73. Then I noticed in the tariff details that an online discount of £20 is applied, bringing the total annual cost down to £231.73, which is what I was quoted. I don't understand how the online discount will be applied - I'll contact PFP Energy and ask.

British Gas Evolve, on the other hand, are fine - the total annual cost works out correctly and doesn't involve any online discounts or the sort. Symbio Energy are the next cheapest electricity supplier for me (£243 per year and no discounts applied), but there's no feedback on them.

I also did the sums for Shell Energy and they didn't add up, either. CEC says my estimated annual cost is £600. Here are the sums:
    • Gas: Standing charge - 11.928p; unit rate - 2.702p
    • Electricity: Standing charge - 14.816p; unit rate - 16.216p
Gas cost totalled £327.25 (365 * 11.928p + 10500 * 2.702p). Electricity cost totalled £297.32 (365 * 14.816p + 1500 * 16.216p). Total annual cost comes to £624.57 - which is what Switch With Which quotes. The illustrative gas and electricity costs on this tariff, according to the CEC, are £315 and £285, respectively. The CEC says that the illustrative costs are based on usage figure I provided, but it would seem that cashback is taken into account.

Estimated annual consumption has units of kWh, not £.

    Updated. Thanks.
  • I initiated a switch via CEC from Eon to Shell last week, on the 10th. MSE email said a £25 bill credit would be applied with this tariff. In this weeks email it has gone up to £35 and ends on Friday.
I'm wondering if I cancel the switch today with Shell, would I be able to choose to switch again with CEC before the Friday deadline? Or would it take a few days for my CEC account to recognise the cancellation?
