NOWTV charging for calls on anytime calls package

Hello, I have fallen foul of nowtv charging for calls when I thought I had signed up with free anytime calls. It seems to coincidental that some of us have been caught out by this. Yes they did send an email stating that pay as you go calls had been selected. But why would anyone change from the default selection of free anytime calls?  Everyone likes something for free right?  I only picked it up after I saw the larger than expect payment having come out of my account and like others nowtv refused to refund me any of the call charges, but did add the anytime calls for free from the date I phoned them.  I did try and complain via their website form but that failed each time I submitted it. I did manage to get a message to them and this was their respond.

In regards to your query unfortunately a refund would not be entitled, I am extremely sorry. I understand there may have been a mistake or glitch that happened during the point of sale however after the sale was complete a confirmation email was sent that confirmed the call package was Pay As You Use calls.

I understand as the order was just placed reading the email at that time may not have been considered however as your bill has been different every month this is a customers responsibility to look into.

I do apologise but unfortunately we are unable to apply a refund.

So it seems that they happy to get away with a “glitch” ripping people off (surely they should just look at what happened to post office staff!). Please beware if signing up to nowtv and read your emails carefully.
